I’ve been lucky enough to be mentored by Ngunnawal elders Uncle Wally Bell and Auntie Karen Denny on making art with waterways on Ngunnawal country.
After walking the length of the Kambri/Sullivan’s Creek over a few weekends, I wrote a longer poem about the creek, which was read as part of Canberra Design Festival 2022 along with the installation of a few lines on one of the bridges in Dickson.
DEMOLISH THE MONUMENTS TO COLONISATION
WATER DREAMS OF CITIES UNBUILT LANGUAGE UNLOST HEARTS UNBROKEN
I worked with You Are Here and Catchment Studio for the install. Catchment Studio do a lot of cool work on waterways in Canberra, especially the watermarks project.
